Observations of My Dad During the Last Few Minutes of the Super Bowl

My dad is half sitting, half laying on the couch across the room.  He looks like an old version of me, about the same weight, but he wears thick old people glasses.  He has his leg up on the couch and his remote in his right hand.  He is leaning on his left elbow with is hand raised, holding a veggie platter, with a round bowl of ranch sauce.  Periodically he puts down the remote to grab a carrot and dip it into the ranch.  Now my mom reaches over to take the platter from him, and he replaces it with a napkin, slowly crumpling it in his hand.  He continues to chew, and smack his lips several times after swallowing.  Now he raises his hand resting it on the top of his head, always with eyes forward.
He is watching the Super Bowl intently, making no signs of movement as a commercial comes on.  As the commercial gets to the punch line he begins to laugh.  I missed the joke because I was intent on observing his reaction.  The next commercial airs, and his demeanor reverts back to the same as it was before.  Now, minutes after the last bite, he continues to lick and pick his teeth with his tongue, smacking his lips, and making noises.  He then reaches his hand down from his head to scratch his chin.
The platter now is passed across the room.  After two minutes he slowly slides off the couch onto his knees and scuttles over to the platter to get another bite.  Then he reverses the action and finds his way back onto the couch.  He is now in almost the same position, only this time resting his right leg over the arm of the couch.
As a throw was caught, his foot began to bounce up and down, and he began yelling "oh!, oh! oh my goodness! Look at that, there's going to be a time out.  Come on, come on."  He reaches down and begins to rub his eyebrow.  "uh, hold on to that."  The game is getting close to an end.  "Thats a first down, they can still win this game, if they just get a touchdown, wheowowooowowo ya ya, they did it.  It's not over yet, Brady still has time to get a field goal to tie it up.  This is good, it's finally getting exciting."he says as he shakes his fist in the air.  "28 seconds", then "he could have got the interception" then,"oooohhh, he just got sacked."
He switches his eyebrow rubbing to the left side.  "That was stupid, why aren't they going for ten or twenty yard pickups?  Fourth and twenty...oooohhhweheeehehyaaa, can you believe it, the patriots, after going undefeated..."  He shakes his head and says "so new england didn't do it", then laughs "hehehhe, cheaters never prosper!" yet there was no noticeable movement made at the end of the game.

God Bless George Lucas (revised)

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away... Star Wars is the greatest movie of all time, and should be revered by all. If you don't like Star Wars it is probably because you have not seen it. My friends and I showed our true nerd colors when Star Wars episode III: Revenge of the Sith finally came out a few years back. It all started when the Megaplex Theaters at Jordan Commons announced that they were going to open all 17 theaters as well as the Cricket Super Screen for the midnight showing of Star Wars. We knew it would be the spot to line up and prove that we truly did have the force with us. We called them about a month in advance to see how early they would allow us to begin lining up, and were surprised to find out that they were setting up the line on the monday before it opened, which was thursday, so really more like wednesday night. They said they would allow us to line up at 3:00 p.m., so we figured on getting there by about 1:00 to make sure we would be the first ones. We ran a bit late, and got there about 1:30 and were terribly angry to find two guys sitting out on the sidewalk just off the property, claiming to have started the line a half hour before.
At first we were pretty irked, but as the three days went on, we found out how much he deserved the first in line position. We discussed his trip to skywalker ranch, and the other midnight shows he had been to, then he told us that he had gotten a sponsor to donate a certain amount of money for every hour that the people who showed up the first day stood in the line to a muscular dystrophy camp in the summer. We became good friends, and we all sort of stood in our own group, shared a picnic canopy in the severe wind and rain and most importantly, shared the best seats in the house at midnight. We were also surprised to see how much the news cared about us out there. The first day we were hounded by several stations, and told by the weatherman that there was a huge storm on its way, and tried to get us to leave. We knew that couldn't stop us. Little did we know that there would be near hurricane force winds that night, and heavy rain. Our tents barely stood the night through, and our sleeping bags were completely sopping.  Even a transformer blew that night, waking everyone. To make sure we were all alive, at about 5 a.m. one of the news stations sent over its helicopter just in time for the early edition. The interviews continued all day, as we tried to dry out.

Finally the night before, hundreds more people flooded in, and the sidewalk in front of Jordan Commons looked like a block party with t.v.'s and video games, even a Dance Dance Revolution tournament right there on the sidewalk. In another corner a duel was being fought with halogen tube "force" feedback lightsabers.
Eventually, at about two in the morning the noise died down, and we were barely able to sleep a few hours before the sun came up. That day the line grew and slithered on all sides of the building, and it was time to clean up, and consolidate the space. They allowed us to take trips to the car to put away all tents, coolers, and all that rot. By 5:00 there was no more room outside, and they began the process of filling in the hallways in an endless maze of people, as we waited for all the movies to clear out and begin seating at around 10:00 p.m.
As we all know, the movie was well worth it, and was one of the best installments of the epic saga. As luck would have it, we were also interviewed shortly after it finished.
Thank you George Lucas for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

About Me

Well, i don't really want to say much about myself, but just added is the about me section to the right, so I'm not going to waste more space over here. Here are some of the videos I either made, or had a strong influence on.

Primerica

A blog is a personal internet diary that other people can view, comment on, and communicate with you on. Many people use it to ask questions, find help or share their views and opinions with a large group. The other day i was researching on the internet to find out peoples opinions of primerica, because i had been recruited by someone in it.
Primerica:Scam or not?
I think this is a good example of how opinions fly and internet arguments are fought. I still haven't decided whether to take primerica seriously yet, but this was an interesting blog i thought. I also looked Primerica up on wikipedia, as well as rip-off report, and found fairly positive articles.  I will look into it more.
Web 2.0 lets the masses become the authority on the web, by allowing normal people to influence, and update, and change the available knowledge out there.  In blogging, people can voice concerns, and the world gives you an answer.  It is quite an amazing change, that has really only taken place in the past few years.  It is very important, and will begin to affect all of us more and more as time goes on.
